Let’s give the ref a hand
By Gareth Huish. Is it now time for FIFA to go digital? November 18 2009 may go down in history as the day football changed forever, when Thierry Henry’s handball in the dying moments of extra time put the spotlight onto the world of football.
Calls are now being made to implement video evidence as part of the rules of the game to make sure the referees get the big decisions right. With football the most covered sport in the entire world and companies such as Sky Sports ploughing fortunes into their pre and post match analysis covering every angle of every incident, can there be any more excuses from the world’s governing bodies as to why video technology is not being used? Glass stops play
By Daniel Stone . A local derby was abandoned when fragments of smashed glass bottles were found embedded in the pitch. Kenfig Hill were 1-0 up at home against local rivals Cornelly in the Port Talbot District League when play was stopped six minutes into the second half.
Treowen reaches for the stars

At the end of the 1996-1997 football season Treowen Stars were on cloud nine in football terms, finishing 5th in the Welsh league division 1 and beating Welsh league side Afran Lido in the Cyril Rogers cup. It was indeed a season to remember and the sky seemed the limit for the small town club with big ambitions. Half marathon fund raiser
By Samantha Christodoulatos. Among the 9,000 people who took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon was 21-year-old Sion Joshua Glaze. A medical student from Cardiff, he raised £200 for Action Aid, a charity whose priority project is to help street children in India.
The decision to support the charity came after Sion and his friends visited India last year: ‘‘We had lots of children approaching us for food and money,’’ he said.
Sion, who had been training since July for his first race, says: ‘‘The money I’ve raised can pay for clothes, sports materials and even a month’s school fees for one child.’’
Sun runners get going
